THE TOM DUNNETT SWING ORCHESTRA

tom dunnett-baxter big band

When you get a band of this quality you really do need to come and see them. Drawn from the best the Birmingham Conservatoire has to offer from thier 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students they really really swing. Do not make the mistake of underestimating the extraordinary swing talent that is in this young line up. Playing at JATW12 they were the act that had everyone talking, they were the act that got people out of the vintage area, out of the relax zone, out of thier caravans, and into thier venue because they were so amazing. Well can't say we didn't blow thier trumpet for them and can't say we didn't let you know just how brilliant and entertaining this band is. We will be there in the front row for a truly inspiring and amazing and enjoyable dance experience with this fabulous orchestra we suggest you grab a ticket and come join in!

THE HEP CHAPS

hep chaps 1

We are chuffed to nutts to have this fabulous band on the roster. Swingin singin and generally runnin you round ragged you'll dance so much!

The Hep Chaps were founded in 1996 after David Howarth and John Wallace met up in the West End of London performing in the stage musical Good Rockin Tonight. David started playing and singing professionally with the local big band when he was sixteen. Django Rheinhardt, Hank Williams and the crooning of Frank Sinatra rank amongst his early influences. He has played in various bands since and acted and played in the original cast of Buddy and Good Rockin' Tonight in the West End. As well as The Hep Chaps, over the last six years Dave has played with Appalachian Strings, one of Ireland's foremost Bluegrass bands. John started up with a Band called The Stargazers who were signed by CBS and had some singles chart success. From there John played with JoBoxers, The Big Town Playboys, James Taylor Quartet, Little Willy Little Field, Robert Plant, the list goes on. West End credits include, Good Rockin' Tonight and Elvis. At the moment John is also one part of the Heavy Shift band and writing team.

Together, the Hep Chaps are a tight, authentically swinging outfit, perfect for dancing and ubercool evenings ... very groovy and very special.  Get your best duds on and come and cut a rug with one of the UK's formost swing outfits. Mingling well-known swing tunes from the 30s & 40s with their own originals in the same classic style this band is one of the most fun & accessible dance bands around. Absolutely toe-tapping… Check out The Hep Chap Boogie… and [their] homage to continental bed covers: Hoover The Duvet. All totally danceable!”  Can't Wait!! (Photo Courtesy of Fats Geordiemo)

Paper Moon Band

THE PAPER MOON BAND
Formed in Bristol from a love of all things swing and led from the front by jazz singer Lucy Moon. The Paper Moon Band, a quintet busting full of high energy swing came forth onto the scene in 2011. Lindy hoppers themselves, this band takes its swing seriously - throwing out some of the finest classics from the 1920's - 50's, whilst stealthily punctuating the sound with modern conversions. With such brilliant musicianship they have yet to offend any diehard vintage traditionalists. There's no 'only' about the Paper Moon Band, and nothing 'make-believe' about their sound... here is a band that gets the dance floor jumping, and really enjoys playing those classic swingin' tunes. Eight beats in and you will be swingin' all night .
